We all get them, whether we admit it or not. If you have ever shaved at all in your life, you have definitely dealt with this before. Luckily, through trial and error, I have learned that there are plenty of ways to both get rid of these quickly without absolutely destroying your skin, and preventing them from coming back in the future! Here is the routine I've come to use anytime I have this problem.

For those razor bumps and ingrown hairs:

Apple Cider Vinegar is going to be your best friend. I use it for so many things--ingrown hairs, acne, as a toner, in cooking, etc. Talk about multi-use! What you're going to do is get a cotton ball with some ACV on it, and rub it on the infected area. Let it dry, and try to leave it untouched for a few hours. If it's in an area that you absolutely have to cover, then you might want to put a bandaid over it to keep it from getting rubbed by your clothing and irritated. I recommend doing this overnight so that you can sleep with the infected area uncovered overnight. In the morning, you will see immediate improvement. The redness will lessen and in a few days, it should be gone.

Prevention:

1. Shaving

It all starts with the way you are shaving. If you shave incorrectly, you could be dooming yourself to ingrown hairs. Soak the area you are going to shave for a few minutes in warm water before you begin. This will help open up the pores. It is extremely important to have a sharp razor and a good shaving cream. A shaving cream that I recommend is Charged Up shaving cream by Limelife. It is so gentle on your skin. Make sure you are shaving the direction the hair is growing. Going against the way the hair grows will more likely to irritate your skin. Go in small and quick strokes. I would not recommend shaving your body every single day; your skin is going to hate you! Try shaving a couple times per week, and if your skin is extremely irritated, hold off until it's calmed down.

2. EXFOLIATE!

I can NOT stress this to you enough! After you shave, whether it be your face or your legs, exfoliating is a MUST. Use a cold wash cloth to put over the area for a minute to close the pores. Gently rub the area with some body scrub. I recommend Limelife by Alcone's Bamboo Renew or Scrubtini for your body, and Power Start exfoliating cleanser for your face! Bamboo Renew/Scrubtini will leave your skin feeling extra soft and can be used all over your body on all of your rough spots.

3. Moisturize

Always moisturize after shaving!! Your skin will get irritated if it is dry, and your clothing rubs against it. Forty Cure Cream and Creme of the Crop are the two best body moisturizers you will find. Not only do they moisturize, but they also heal! Skin Therapy is great for faces with normal to dry skin, Cool Balm works best for those with sensitive skin, and Cool Down works for faces of all skin types!
